CLIENT INFORMATION

The important

FIRST STEP

Seeking help is often the biggest step to wellness. This can be an intimidating process, however Tom will help you feel comfortable in sharing your life challenges. Tom is personable, loves meeting new people, and is understanding and non-judgemental in his approach.

Research shows that a favourable therapist/client relationship is necessary in helping you reach your wellness goals. Tom will talk openly with you about this, and will even assist you in securing another therapist if the client/therapist relationship is not a fit.

At your first session Tom will ask you to complete some paperwork followed by a conversation with him for 50-60 minutes. You can talk about what your expectations are, and determine if he is a good fit for you. He will ask you about your struggles, your goals, and what you need in a therapist.

Taking the first step to overcome your inner struggles begins with booking an appointment. Contact Tom by phone or email today to book an appointment.

FAQS

Are you taking new clients?

Yes, we are presently taking new clients. New clients can usually be seen for an intake session within a few days.

Do I need a referral?

You do not require a referral to set up an appointment. However, some insurance company extended plans require a referral from a physician prior to reimbursing you for paying our fees.

How do I know when it is time to seek help?

Whether you are struggling with a major crisis or attempting to work through a small, seemingly minor issue, counselling can be favourable for navigating the ups and downs of life. As individuals, we are created as social beings and therefore need others to help us  through the storms life often presents to us. If you are unsure of whether it is time to seek help, Tom is happy to meet with you to answer your questions and discuss ways that he might be able to help you.

How do I make an appointment?

Tap the Contact button on the menu at the top of the page to inquire about services offered, or to book an appointment. You may call or email. There is also an information box on this page to ask questions or book an appointment.

How long are the sessions and how many sessions will I need?

Sessions are 50 minutes. The number of sessions depends on your situation. Tom will give you an idea about number of sessions after the first intake session. Therapy is most beneficial for those who attend weekly or every other week. However, if financial reasons prevent you from weekly sessions, then monthly sessions are a possibility.

What is family counselling?

Family counseling provides an opportunity for family members to bring healing to relationships.  New ways to communicate are learned in a safe and therapeutic setting. The focus for this type of counselling is to help each member of the family understand the other family members’ perspectives. This helps each family member to  relate to others in a healthy way.
